From intern Jess:
As a guest, one of the most exciting times during a wedding is the grand entrance of the bridal party. That moment where everyone catches the first glimpse of the blushing bride in her gown as she floats down the aisle to a song of her choosing.
Whether you will have live musicians or a DJ, music has a way of eliciting emotion and will set the tone for your ceremony. Selecting music for your ceremony can be a daunting task, so here are just a few alternatives to check out.
Processional – The walk down the aisle. Try to choose one song that can be looped or is long enough for your parents, grandparents and bridal party to walk down. Too many songs changes can be abrupt, we suggest choosing one song for the entrance of the party and then a song change for your grand entrance.
“The Cello Song” - Bach
“Moon River" – Andy Williams
“Halo” – Beyoncé
"Only Hope" – from A Walk to Remember, Switchfoot
"Edelweiss" – from motion picture soundtrack The Sound of Music, Rodgers & Hammerstein
“A Postcard to Henry Purce"” – from motion picture soundtrack Pride & Prejudice, Jean-Yves Thibaudet
Recessional – The walk back up the aisle. This is a perfect opportunity to have a little fun with your music. Choose something upbeat and celebratory to seal the deal on your marriage!
“All You Need is Love” - The Beatles
“Beautiful Day" – U2
“You are the Best Thing" –Ray LaMontagne
“You’re Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher & Higher” – Jackie Wilson
“Marry You" – Bruno Mars
“Ever Ever After" - from the motion picture Enchanted, Carrie Underwood
Note: We tried to choose instrumental versions of the songs so you could enjoy the music. We do not own the rights to these songs nor do we have any association with the performers, they are purely for your listening pleasure.
