Jess' Inspired: Nontraditional Engagement Rings

From intern Jess:
With a bevy of celebrities recently engaged there is bound to be some new ring trends on the horizon. Over the years ring styles, materials and gems have evolved. Celebs are paving the way for a whole new world of engagement rings. Ladies are donning rings of platinum, black rhodium, white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold. They are shaking up tradition by foregoing diamonds in favor of rubies, emeralds, aquamarine, canary and pink diamonds.
We are seeing all sorts of shapes from round to pear and cuts like asscher and emerald. Of course there are shapes and cuts that stand the test of time like the round brilliant and the square princess cuts.

This season the vintage look is making a comeback with delicate filigrees, halos settings and colorful gem stones. Take a look at trendsetter Mary-Kate Olson’s vintage Cartier ring which dates back to 1953. The floral inspired ring boasts a 4-carat European cut center stone surrounded by a sapphire halo, set in a rope detailed setting. We expect nothing less of the fashionista.

Engagement rings are meant to mirror the wearers personality, take for example newly engaged Mila Kunis’ ring. A classic, stunning solitaire, perfect for the girl next door. We just can’t wait to see what her big day will be like…hopefully nothing like the one she had in “That 70’s show”.
