Gatsby Inspiration

From Shekinah:
This week, I was inspired by another one of my favorite books of all time, The Great Gatsby. Add the fact that The Great Gatsby actually took place on Long Island, and how could I NOT do a Gatsby board?

Choose a venue like Brecknock Hall or De Seversky Mansion. You want guests to be feel transported to that era. D├ęcor is in hushed tones of nude, blush, champagne, and accent EVERYTHING in gold and silver. Little details like silver taper candleholders, antique picture frames and books, and using pearl string instead of napkin rings go a long way.  Add a subtle nod to the novel by using gold eggs for escort cards or favors.

Fashion is “high society” - men should be in tails, and ladies can wear slim flapper silhouettes. Accessorize the wedding party with pocket watches for the men, and fringed clutches, long pearls, and embellished hair pieces for the ladies. Finally, use an antique Excaliber as a photo booth backdrop for your guests. Not only will they be wowed by the car, but they’ll have some fantastic pictures to remember your amazing wedding by.
