Notes from an Intern: Shekinah's Week Two

From intern Shekinah:

So originally, I had this whole little plan in my mind about what I learned during my second week, maybe talk about learning how to edit ideas and whatnot or talk about some other topic I learned… and then Friday happened.  On Friday, I had the wonderful opportunity of attending Cloud Nove Events’ Grand Opening and because all of you fantastic people, my type-A plans for this week’s blog went right out the window.

Here’s why:
As I was talking to all of you who are in the wedding planning industry, I learned an important lesson. I realized that the reason why you all are so successful is because you don’t settle with just having people who work for you.  You surround yourself with people who work with you. A lot of people have talent. A lot of people have experience. However, if their style or personality doesn’t work with what you are trying to give clients, it doesn’t matter how good they are. It’s not going to work. As a creative individual and businessperson, you have to be true to yourself and you have to find people who are on the same page as you. This doesn’t mean you need to agree on every little thing, but you have to appreciate each other as professionals and as people. It makes work so much easier and even makes it fun (who would have thought?!).  To bring this back to last night, everyone I met yesterday was so friendly and in half a second of talking with you, it made complete sense why you collaborate with Cloud Nove.  Cloud Nove’s approach is all about warmth and being welcoming- and that’s what you all were to me so thank you!

With all this being said, I can’t end this blog without giving a special shout out to Patryk and Kate this week. I finally had a chance to meet both of them and all I can say is Ahhh! SO MUCH FUN!!! Seriously, I think there have been two.. maybe three people in my life that I have connected with instantly and that’s how it was with Patryk and Kate- just an explosion of pure awesomeness.
As I think about last night, it really was perfect. The night was filled with people who love people, a lot of laughs, and most importantly, peach sangria… and when it comes down to it, is there much more that anyone really needs?
