I never thought of myself as being a country or farm girl but I must say, I do love country living. One thing I love to do is picking my own fruit. The first time I picked mangoes and guava fruit in the Dominican Republic many years ago I was hooked. The experience of picking fresh limes and making refreshing limeade is something I can’t get enough of. Unfortunately, I don’t live in the Caribbean where there are plenty of opportunities to pick fresh fruits and veggies, so I’ll have to settle for our wonderful Big Apple.
Visiting a farm or orchard is relaxing, stress relieving and fun. That’s why I love apple picking at Fishkill Farms this time of year. The gorgeous mountain views, the fall foliage and the warm apple cider are all worth the trip. To get away from the city and escape to a serene place where I can become a kid again, climb trees to pick my own apples and enjoy some quiet quality time with family, friends or just with my honey, this apple orchard is my favorite.
