These are a Few of My Favorite Things... on North Fork, Long Island

I hope that these ideas will help inspire your wedding planning. Besides the obvious - visiting area vineyards and sampling their wines - remember you can stroll along the beaches, and ….

Escape on a Romantic Rendezvous
There are dozens of places to stay in Peconic, Mattituck, Southold, Greenport, etc. I suggest staying at a bed and breakfast – http://www.northforkweddings.com/ is just one place that has a listing of lodging options. You can make it a romantic weekend for two, or invite your best man and maid of honor to join you for a fun friends weekend away. My personal favorite B&B is The Harvest Inn Bed and Breakfast in Peconic. I simply cannot recommend it any higher – this warm, charming B&B is located in the heart of wine country and is all about food and wine - and quality! The owners, Christopher and Darolyn, prepare an unforgettable breakfast, and go above and beyond to make sure that you make the most of your visit to the area.

Schedule a 3 Hour Tour, yes a 3 Hour Tour
Set sail from beautiful New Suffolk into the harbor aboard the Polar C, a 32’ Catalina equipped with a galley, and full bathroom. As my husband and I were enjoying our sail around Robins Island, Captain Bob shared with me that on a recent sail a (very nervous) man proposed to his girlfriend while onboard. I got chills at the idea, because as I looked around at the absolutely beautiful coastline, felt the warm breeze, and enjoyed the sunshine I couldn’t imagine a more romantic, special moment. So ladies, feel free to forward this email to your boyfriend, highlight this paragraph, and cross your fingers. The boat will hold 6 guests, so it’s something you can enjoy with your bridal party as well. Bring your lunch on board, or some wine and cheese, and create a lifetime memory.

Visit Love Lane Kitchen in Mattituck - a sunny, charming spot with a great menu, or The Frisky Oyster in Greenport. For a romantic Italian dining experience, there’s A Mano Osteria & Wine Bar, which features local vineyards and farmers. If you’re heading to the vineyards to enjoy a tasting, or a night of music, be sure to pick up some cheese and meats from The Village Cheese Shop. Most importantly, for delicious homemade pastries and gelato, I’ll say it again – gelato – stroll down Main Street in Greenport and stop at D’Latte (I recommend the hazelnut flavor).

Be a Kid Again
Remember, there’s a pretty cool aquarium right in Riverhead. At Atlantis Marine World, you can spend the day observing everything from piranhas to sea lions, but you can also arrange for some special behind the scenes experiences. This year they started a “Penguin Encounter” – and if you love those little guys like I do, this is a great way to get up close and personal. Not only are you taken onto the penguin pavilion exhibit itself, you’re also given the chance to meet and pet one of the three penguin chicks.
For the somewhat more adventurous, immerse yourself in a Shark Dive, which puts you inside a cage in the middle of a tank with more than 10 circling sharks. Um, maybe wait until *after* the wedding for that one.

Last, but not least
Go shopping! With the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, take advantage of sales and discounts at places like Williams Sonoma, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, and Marc Ecko.
