Fall Weddings

Welcome! The date is 9.9.09 and it is somewhat fitting that Cloud NOVE is launching our e-zine today. We plan on featuring easy and affordable tips and tricks biweekly that will help you plan the wedding of your dreams.

This week we’ve had a few days that hint of the upcoming Fall season - cool, crisp air, and a sky so blue and clear it’s picturesque. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year - not just because it means being able to wear great suede boots and cute, comfy sweaters- but because of the warm hues and vibrant colors that accent your wardrobe and decor: golds, browns, orange, reds, yellows. This week’s main article is on how to incorporate the vibrancy of Fall into your wedding.

I invite you to join me every other week - we’ll provide great news, tips, lists, discounts and freebies to help you in your wedding planning. If you'd like to be removed from future messages, just unsubscribe below. We’ll honor your request - promise.

Autumn, Autunno, Automne: Season of Brightly Colored Leaves, Crisp Afternoons, Harvesting, and Giving Thanks

Autumn is one of the most vibrantly colorful times of the year, and is increasingly becoming a more popular season for weddings. In fact, many venue locations have deemed October the ‘new June’ of the wedding season. Here are some easy ways to incorporate the vibrancy of the season into your big event:

Your Pre Wedding Activities

  • Arrange a Long Island wine tour for your wedding party- the 2009 Fall Harvest Festival is coming up on Sept 20th. Pick, crush and press your own grapes, enjoy wine and lunch over live music and be back in NYC by 7pm.

  • Go pumpkin picking or get lost in the day time corn maze at Schmitt’s Farm.
Your Cake
  • Chocolate lovers rejoice! The cool temperature of fall months means that you can use chocolate ganache and flavoring, as well as buttercream and marzipan. You can also combine chocolate with other rich flavors like vanilla, hazelnut, espresso or dark cherry (or Kahlua, Frangelico, Amaretto, or Godiva liqueur for the more adventurous among us).
  • Not a fan of milk chocolate? Consider carrot or pumpkin spice cake with white chocolate icing. Decorate your cake with floral berries, miniature pumpkins or gourds, or fresh flowers that match your bouquet.
Your Flowers
  • Think vibrant color and texture, texture, texture. Roses in deeper tones, like burgundy, browns or oranges, my personal fave are Leonidas and black magic roses for their rich velvety texture. Hydrangeas turn brilliant yellow, orange, red and burgundy – (and are typically more affordable than callas). Speaking of which, always elegant and timeless is the Calla lilly – use burnt orange or regal dark purple hues.
  • Last but not least, your fall bouquet could include lush dahlias or warm toned sunflowers. Consider using accents such as hypericum berries, seed pods, willow, and ryegrass. For the final touch, wrap your bouquet stems in autumnal toned fabrics, ribbons, silk or velvet.
Your Favors
  • Google search “fall wedding favors” and you’re sure to come upon thousands of ideas – some cute and quirky, like these scented leaf shaped soaps from Kate Aspen.

  • Any wedding favor item you can think of from candles to coasters can be personalized for a fall theme. In ancient Greece and Rome honey symbolized fertility and love- so consider personalized mini honey jars as your favor!

  • Personalized wine bottle favors have been popular the last few years. Take a twist on that idea and give personalized mini oil and vinegar bottles. October begins the optimum time to harvest for oil in Italy, so these cute favors are definitely keeping with a fall theme!
